Lead counsel for the GFA in the CAS case Naa Odorfoley Nortey has revealed that some of Wilfried Osei Kweku Palmer’s utterances in the past cost his defeat in his appeal case at the Court of Arbitration for sports.
The president of Tema Youth football club was disqualified from last year’s GFA presidential elections by the Normalization Committee.
He appealed his disqualification at CAS but the world adjudicatory body dismissed his case against the GFA.
It was reported that Osei Palmer had stated that Ghana failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup because of lack of unclassified payments by the government which is against FIFA code of ethics.
Speaking on Extra Time on Starr FM, Naa Odoforley insists some of these unethical comments coupled with other things cost him victory at CAS.
“He admitted that’s indeed by not paying that monies over as enshrined in the regulations of the Association he want to lead, he had acted inappropriately these were his words and he apologized for that.”
“So you can imagine our shock and surprise when he was disqualified for one being in breach of GFA statues and also for not passing his integrity test because clearly some of his past utterances contributed coupled with other things contributed to his defeat at CAS” Naa Odoforley told Starr Sports.
