The first group of Sudan’s national football team has arrived in Ghana ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Led by former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, the technical team touched down in the country on Sunday night. The remaining members of the Sudanese squad, traveling from Saudi Arabia, are expected to join by the end of today, under the leadership of Mr. Abubakar Al-Mahy, the national team manager.
Sudan began their qualifying campaign with a victory over Niger but later suffered a 2-1 loss to Angola, placing them second in the group with three points. Despite the setback, Kwesi Appiah remains determined to guide his team to an upset against Ghana, which would strengthen their chances of securing a spot at AFCON 2025.
The Sudanese team is scheduled to hold their final training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday evening before facing Ghana in the first leg at the same venue on Thursday, with kick-off at 16:00 GMT.
The second leg of the qualifier will take place on October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
