The Ghana Football Association has asked Asante Kotoko to provide them with reasons why they are requesting for their home venue of Accra Sports Stadium to be changed (to Tamale Sports stadium) in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors collided with the GFA on the usage of their VEO recording technology to film their live game against Techiman Eleven Wonders as permitted by the GFA regulations but the country’s football governing body shockingly took a U-turn and try to prevent Kotoko at kickoff when , as a matter of fact, Kotoko fulfilled all the requirements that allowed them to film their matches for purpose of analysis.
This time around Kotoko have written to the GFA to request for a venue change just two games into the new season but it appears the club did not provide enough reasons to support their application or request and as it stands now the request has not been granted.
Article 14 (1) of the Ghana Premier League regulations, 2019 edition, states that:
“A place shall not be used as venue for league matches unless it has been approved by the GFA to be used as such”
Kotoko play against Mauritania side FC Nouadhibou at the Accra sports stadium behind close doors on Saturday for the second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary tie between the two sides following a 1-1 draw in the first encounter last Sunday.
