Former English Premier League star player John Barnes says Ghana’s star player Thomas Partey is the best defensive midfielder at Arsenal FC.
The Liverpool legend revealed this in a TV show when he was quizzed about the possibility of the Ghana International leaving Arsenal FC this summer.
With reports suggesting the Ghanaian international could move to Juventus FC or a top team in Suadi Arabia, Barnes has shared his opinion on the current transfer rumour.
He described Partey as the best defensive player at Arsenal and he would be surprised if the club opted to sell him amid interest from other clubs.
“Arsenal potentially selling Thomas Partey would surprise me because I think he’s their best defensive player”, he said
“Is it a personality thing with Partey? Partey has done really well for Arsenal but it could be similar to Cancelo with Manchester City and Pep Guardiola.
“We don’t know the ins and outs of it but I am surprised because he’s a strong defensive midfielder.
“Declan Rice could be coming in so they may decide Rice is the best option going forward.”
Partey was a key member of the Red and Whites outfit as they secured Champions League football and won the goal of the season award with his strike against Tottenham Hotspur.
