Top 6 big name players eliminated from the UEFA Euro 2020

The UEFA Euro 2020 has recorded some interesting results in the Round of 16 and here we look at the biggest name players who have been sent packing home.

1.Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal

Beaten by Belgium by 1-0., Portugal failed to at least reach the finals of the tournament trying to defend their title won in 2016. Biggest player out of the tournament is obviously Ronaldo – top goalscorer of the tournament so far on 5 goals.

2.Karim Benzema – France

Double brace for Benzema in the tournament but that was still not enough to send France into the last eight. He scored a brace against Portugal in the last group game that ended 2-2 and repeated the form against Switzerland on Monday. Was not one of the five France players who participated in the penalty shootouts after the 3-3 affair in 120 minutes as France lost 4-5.

2.Kylian Mbappe – France

Mbappe just observed his first difficult tournament. Russia 2018 was good but Euro 2020 presented a regret for the Real Madrid target. His was the only one to miss his kick against Switzerland during the penalty shootouts.

3.Paul Pogba – France

Pogba’s masterclass in the Euro 2020 has come down to an elimination by Switzerland. The Manchester United midfielder scored a brilliant goal against the Swiss to put his team 3-1 up but they opponents equalized twice and took the game to extra time and after a 3-3 affair after 120 minutes, Switzerland won the penalty shootouts to advance.

4.Robert Lewandowksi – Poland

The Poland captain – whos scored 2 goals in the tournament – saw his national team eliminated after group play as they won no games. 1 draw and 2 losses.
