The matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League produced another exciting night as several African players were in action.
Group E
No African featured in Lazio’s 2-0 win over Celtic.
19-year-old Gambian forward, Yankuba Minteh played 63 minutes for Feyenoord as they were beaten at De Kuip in Rotterdam. Algerian international Ramiz Zerrouki was an unused substitute for the Dutch side.
Group F
Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze equalised for AC Milan in their crunch clash against Dortmund in the 37th minute after Marco Reus’ 7th-minute penalty had put the visitors ahead.
Dortmund went ahead to win 3-1 with two goals from Bynoe-Gittens and Karim Adeyemi as Algerian left-back Ramiz Bensabaini enjoyed the 90 minutes for the Germans.
Sebastien Haller was an unused substitute for Dortmund.
In the other game of the group, Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi played 90 minutes for PSG in their 1-1 draw against Newcastle in Paris.

In Bern, Young Boys won 2-0 against Crvena Czvezda as 8 Africans were in the Young Boys matchday squad with four starting the match. 26-year-old Guinean international Mohamed Camara played 90 minutes for the home side. DR Congo forward Elia Meschack also enjoyed 90 minutes as Senegalese defender Cheikh Niasse also played 90 minutes.
Cameroonian forward Jean Pierre Nsame played 73 minutes. Miguel Chaiwa (Zambia), Ebrima Colley (Gambia) and Silver Ganvoula (Cong) all came on in the second half.
Gambian defender Saidy Janko was an unused substitute for Young Boys.
Crvena Zvezda had 7 Africans in their matchday squad with Osman Bukari (Ghana), Nasser Djiga (Burkina Faso) and Cherif Ndiaye (Senegal) all starting the match.
Kings Kangwa (Zambia) and Peter Olayinka (Nigeria) were unused substitutes as Guelor Kanga (Nigeria) and Jean Philipe Krasso (Ivory Coast) made cameos.
Malian Midfielder Amadou Haidara played 73 minutes in RB Leipzig’s 3-2 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yussuf played 72 minutes for Royal Antwerp in their 1-0 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in Hamburg. Nigerian Forward Chidera Ejuke also enjoyed 45 minutes as he replaced Netherlands forward Gyrano Kerk.
The 26-year-old Nigerian left-back Zaidu Sanusi played the whole 90 minutes for FC Porto in their 2-1 defeat to Barcelona.
