Ghana’s U 17 coach Paa Kwesi Fabian admits there are few mistakes in his team which needs rectification before battling energetic Malian team at the grand finale stage of the ongoing U-17 Africa Cup of nations in Gabon.
The Black Starlets failed to score in stipulated time for the game to travel to penalties which saw the Ghanaians qualify to the finals since 2005.
A victory over Mali on Sunday will give Ghana its third continental title.
According to the experience trainer, his team could have buried the game in stipulated time but had to rely on penalty shootouts to determine their destiny in the tournament following their inability to convert the numerous chances they had.
Skipper Eric Ayiah, Gebrial Leveh, Emmanuel Toku and Abdul Razak Yusif were all culprits as they missed their chances in the game.
A situation the former Inter Allies coach says will be worked on before Sunday’s clash against Mali who beat Guinea on penalties 2-0 after a 90 minutes of thrilling and entertaining football in their semi-final fixture.
‘’We have given people of Port Gentil really entertainment, it was a very tactical match and I want to congratulate Niger for giving us a very good match.’’ Fabian told the media.
‘’ Though we had chances, we missed them up but we are lucky to go through on penalties, we would go back into the drawing and correct the mistakes before heading for the final on Sunday.’’
‘’We scored nine goals in the first two matches and we couldn’t score in the last two matches. ‘’
‘’I wished I can be crowned winners of this tournament now because I don’t have any preference between Mali and Guinea.’’
