Accra Hearts of Oak newbie, Gladson Awako has cautioned the supporters of the club not to expect too much from the players ahead of their return to CAF Champions League.
The attacking midfielder switched from rivals Great Olympics to Hearts last month after the latter showed in interest in adding him to their squad ahead of their campaign in Africa.
The Rainbow club won the domestic double last season after clinching the league title and beating AshantiGold to the MTN FA Cup title, booking their place in the Champions League.
The 30-year-old, who won the prestigious club tournament in Africa with TP Mazembe in 2015 ahead of the commencement of the preliminary stages of the competition has called on the fans of Hearts to lower their expectations while promising to give their all.
“They shouldn’t expect too much,” Awako told Joy Sports in an interview.
“We’ll do our best, we’ll do what we can to get to the money zone which won’t be easy but I know with the team, the management and support from the board chairman I know we’ll do our best to get to the money zone. So they shouldn’t expect too much that we’ll go and win the trophy. They should limit the expectation, which will take some pressure off the team.”
The Rainbow club return to Africa for the first time after a six-year absence. They face Guinean side Industriel De Kamsar in their first game.
