Daniel Amartey played his first Premier League match for the first time in almost two years during Leicester City’s big win over Manchester City last Sunday at the Etihad stadium.
The 25 year old defender- 26 caps for Ghana – put in a solid performance to help the 2015/16 English champions defeat the Citizens 5-2 to go top of the league standings with 9 points plus 8 goals difference.
After the game the club managed by Brendan Rodgers took to their official Twitter page to congratulate the Ghanaian player for making a big comeback.

On 27th October 2018, Amartey broke his ankle in a game against West Ham United, ruling him out for the rest of the 2018–19 season. The former Copenhagen utility man was stretchered off in the 1-1 draw against The Hammers at the King Power Stadium after making nine appearances at the start of the season already.
The versatile player – who represented Ghana at the 2015 and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments – spent the 2019/20 season in the treatment room as he missed the entire campaign but the start of the new season – still impacted by the Covid19 has been brought good news to Amartey who has completed 90 minutes in two games so far for the team of Rodgers.
He was positioned at right back in the EFL Round of 16 defeat against Arsenal and on Sunday the former Liverpool manager trusted him with a consecutive start as part of his three-man defence against Pep Guardiola’s Man City and the Ghana did not disappoint in one of the biggest games of English football.
