Captain Zakaria Fuseini has penned a heartfelt farewell to Berekum Chelsea as he prepares to complete a move to Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.
The 27-year-old centre-back, widely regarded as one of the most dependable defenders in the Ghana Premier League, is set to sign a three-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Fuseini, who made his Premier League debut in 2014, has been a pillar of consistency and leadership at Berekum Chelsea over the years. His imminent move to Kotoko marks a significant step in his career.
Taking to social media, the outgoing captain expressed deep gratitude to Berekum Chelsea for shaping his journey from a promising youngster to club leader.
“Every story that has a beginning definitely has an end. Here comes the end of our story on the field, but our story off the field goes on till eternity,” he wrote.
“Having arrived here as a young boy, you took me as one of your own and nurtured me into the man I am today. From that young boy to becoming captain of this great club—it’s something I will forever cherish and be grateful for.”
He extended appreciation to everyone who contributed to his development at the club.
“Today, with great honour and a heart full of gratitude, I say thank you to each and every one of you for the roles you’ve played in my football journey—from the President, chairman, and board members to the amazing coaches and teammates I’ve worked with, both as a teammate and later as a captain.”
“To the people of Berekum and all supporters of Berekum Chelsea FC, words won’t be enough to express my appreciation. Thank you, and may Allah bless us all. This is not a goodbye, but a step into a new chapter in my footballing career.”
Asante Kotoko are expected to officially announce Fuseini’s signing in the coming days as they continue to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
